This project was funded on 21 Mar 2023!

We want to create a skate park in Fairford that encourages skate-boarders and scooter riders of all abilities to enjoy skating, learn from each other, and get outside and play.

What we'll deliver:

  • low and high level ramps and platforms
  • quarter pipes

Why it's a great idea:

We hope that this skate park will bring joy to those who use it. We hope that it will encourage children of all ages to get outside and get fit, play together and learn together. General Health Benefits of skateboarding: • Coordination – Skateboarding improves hand, eye, leg and feet coordination. When skateboarding, you need to alter your movements so you skate smoothly and accurately. • Stress Relief – Stresses consume people, even kids, all the time. Skateboarding is an avenue to relieve some of those stresses or frustrations. • Precision – Skateboarding takes a lot to pick up on. You are constantly adjusting weight from one direction to another, switching your speed, and, when good enough, perfecting tricks. • Reflexes – When falling or stopping quickly, you need to have quick reflexes to brace yourself or prevent a collision from happening. • Patience – Skateboarding requires an immense amount of patience.

Steps to get it done:

  • Choose the final design
  • Remove the existing skate ramp
  • dig the foundations
  • create the skate park
  • install lighting
  • open the skate park
