Fairford Town Council is hoping to create a new skate park in Fairford. We have had this aspiration for many years, and recently, more and more people have come to the Council to say that they share this hope for Fairford's future with us.
Fairford has grown over the last 5 years, and we want to improve the play facilities for the growing number of young people who live and go to school in Fairford.
Skateboarding and scootering are popular in Fairford, and the current ramp is not suitable for people to learn on and doesn’t give the range of jumps and rides that people want from a skate park.
We are working with the young people in the town, and with our chosen contractor, Gravity, to make sure that the park that we create is one that offers the most we can get within the budget that we have. We also want to make sure that the skate park looks great and sits comfortably in the surrounds of the park and the local conservation area.
By creating a fabulous facility in Fairford, we hope that is will reduce the need for parents and carers to make car journeys to other towns with skate parks. With the additional lighting in the park, the existing CCTV, and the positive culture that surrounds skate boarding, we hope that it will reduce the amount of antisocial behaviour in Fairford.
