Supporting Culture and Sport in Lancashire.
Sisters Youth Club is a dedicated local initiative, providing a secure environment for girls to engage in diverse sports, fostering physical well-being.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Sisters Youth Club is a transformative project designed to empower young girls in our community. Our structured sessions, each lasting 1 hour, are carefully curated to offer a dynamic blend of physical activity, emotional support, and intellectual growth. For the first 45 minutes, the girls immerse themselves in a chosen sport, fostering physical well-being and a spirit of friendship. This sport segment remains consistent for 6 weeks, providing an opportunity for skill development, team building and a sense of unity, before transitioning to a new sport, selected by the girls themselves. The final 15 minutes are dedicated to creating a circle of trust and open conversation. Here, the girls engage in discussions ranging from lifestyle choices and current affairs to personal experiences. This intentional time allows them to connect on a deeper level, fostering a sense of sisterhood and understanding. This Club is not just about sport or teaching; it’s about creating a lasting bond.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The Club is set to bring a multitude of benefits to the young girls in our community, far beyond the boundaries of physical activity to encompass holistic personal development too. The structured sport sessions provides a platform for the girls to engage in physical activity, promoting overall health and well-being. This not only instils and sense of discipline, but also cultivates and nurtures teamwork, communication and leadership skills through active participation. The second, but also crucial aspect of the program lies in the final 15 minutes, where the girls form a circle for open conversations. This intentional time encourages the sharing of thoughts, experiences, and perspectives. By discussing topics ranging from lifestyle choices to current news and personal matters, be them positive or negative, the girls build strong interpersonal connections, creating a real genuine sense of sisterhood. The club acts as a haven, proving an escape from the pressures adolescents may face.
Steps to get it done:
with sessions running every 2 weeks. We are hoping to continue sessions till the summer, whereby we then hope to plan and organise small trips for the girls. Some ideas include a trek at Lake District, a fun run up pendle, ice skating, picnics and many more. We are only at the beginning of our journey with Sisters Youth Club and have many new ideas to offer.
