The Red Rosettes Show Chorus is a charity with a passion to bring the joy of music to our communities. We have a long history of singing together, 2025 was our 45th birthday, and have a wealth of experience in singing and performance.
Our singing performance experience ranges from taking part in small locally-organised community events and festivals, to large concert halls, to competing on the international contest stage in large arenas.
Despite the wide-ranging and high performance singing events we have done, we remain grounded to our charitable objectives and so gain the most reward from our singing activities that bring value to our own communities, residents and families.
Our members come from across Lancashire and span an age range of 70 years. The integenerational support across the choir brings a bredth of life experince that enables the Rosettes to not only singing together but be a family, who support each other.
The health benefits for people listening (and indeed singing) to live music is well documented. There are further benefits for senior residents who may be experiencing memory loss. Music is processed across multiple brain areas and draws on a range of sensory processes, and helps reconnect people with memories. We also recognise its value from some of the feedback our audience has given us.
This is a quote from a recent Christmas sing-out we did in a local residential home: “quite incredible, please thank everyone who came and sang as it was amazing... mum was very happy... it really meant a lot to us all” (Family member of a Resident at Buckshaw Retirement Village). This project simply will help us do more of what we love; to bring music to the people of Lancashire!
The Red Rosettes have been self sustainable financially through being paid to sing at events, it helps us cover costs such as rehersal venue fees, copyright, costumes, riser maintenance, professional coaching in singing and performance, as well susidising members to attend competitions. With costs rising for everyone, it has been harder to find paid performances. This fund will enable us to do more community performances at the same time as supporting the choir to cover it running costs.
