Valentine Singers is a mixed voice local choir currently in its 26th season which performs a wide range of choral music. Our most recent concert included 'Songs of Winter and Isolation', a series of 5 well-known poems set to music for choir, piano and French horn by East London-based composer, Jonathan Pease. This concert also included works by Brahms and Richard Rodney Bennett. Last season's programme included an orchestral concert featuring Beethoven's Mass in C and works by Haydn and Marianna Martines; Towards the Unknowm Region by Vaughan Williams, works by Purcell, Fauré, Parry, Chilcott and a range of othjer contemporary composers. We also perform smaller scale music, both classical and non-classical, and are currently preparing for our Christmas concert and singing at Valentines Mansions' Victorian Christmas event.
We aspire to excellence. The choir enables local people to take part in high quality choral concerts which other members of the community can watch locally at affordable prices.
We are led by a skilled and experienced musical director and vocal coach who supports members to develop their skills and knowledge. Members value opportunities to sing alongside professional soloists, accompanied by an orchestra or a smaller group of instrumentalists.
