'Silent Approach' is a small theatre production based on a real life story about one woman's mental health journey whilst a serving Police Officer. The play delves deep into her struggles.
'Silent Approach' is a poignant theatrical production based on the true story of a police officer's courageous journey through mental health challenges. The play delves into the life of a Lancashire police officer who battled psychosis and explores the factors contributing to her mental health crisis. Audiences will follow her through her tansformative time in a psychiatric unit, highlighting the critical lessons she and society need to learn, and ultimately her inspiring path to recovery and return to duty. The production aims to foster a deeper understanding of mental health issues within high-pressure professions like the police force. By shining a spotlight on the often-unseen struggles and triumphs, Silent Approach seeks to challenge stigma and promote empathy and awareness. At the end of each performance, a Q&A session will feature mental health charities. providing a platform for insightful discussions and emphasising the necessity for increased mental health education.

The Q&A sessions will allow audience members to engage directly with mental health professionals and charities. 4. Reducing the stigma of mental health issues - Stigma is one of the biggest barriers to seeking help for mental health issues. The project seeks to diminish stigma by presenting a raw and honest depiction of recovery.

VolunteerSince 2024, SIS has been supporting children and adults in the East Lancashire area with their mental health and wellbeing. We are that organisation that bridges the gap for individuals accessing mental health support and in a timely manner before people enter a crisis. We work closely with the Social Prescribing teams and GP Surgeries whom we receive at least 70% of our referrals through.
Since 2024 we have been delivering our workshops in different venues across East Lancashire We have learnt a lot about what works in a venue and what we need, but it has been challenging at times moving around. We have recognised that people interact better through creative sessions and we want to be that place where people can access these sessions for free to help with both their mental health and overall wellbeing.
Establishing "Strength In Struggles" as a central hub for various support services under one roof is a transformative idea that addresses the multifaceted needs of individuals grappling with mental health and loneliness challenges and also as a preventive place where people can look after their wellbeing. By offering sessions such as Art, and Yoga/Pilates, and Mini Medics Workshops, we create an accessible and inclusive environment where individuals can find solace, connection, and a sense of community. This integration eliminates barriers to access, ensuring that everyone—regardless of their background and age—can seek help, share experiences, and benefit from collective healing.
Furthermore, the tranquil setting of Whalley Abbey enhances the overall experience. Amidst the calm and serene environment, individuals can escape their daily stresses and find comfort in knowing they are not alone in their struggles. The Abbey offers a safe space for reflection and healing, allowing participants to recharge and connect with their inner selves while also forming meaningful relationships with others.
In summary, bringing these creative sessions and worshops together under one roof not only simplifies access but also fosters a vibrant community spirit. Everyone will know where to find support, and this familiarity will empower individuals to seek help confidently. "Strength In Struggles" embodies the essence of inclusivity, safety, and connection, offering a lifeline to those in need while creating a warm and supportive community for all.
