Sileby has been subject to severe flooding during the 2019 Autumn. The new changing facility building provided earlier this year for our members requires completion to comply with building regulations.
There is a requirement to render the block building to protect from the elements. This is something the cancelled Fireworks event would have funded. Due to the localised flooding, the ground was completely submerged and so we had to cancel this major event. We now find ourselves short of the costs to fund this project.
As well as the rendering, we have a number of projects to complete to continue to provide a great experience for our members
We need to reseed the square also as the floods came just 7 days after £3500 worth of renovations to the square.
What we'll deliver:
- Render the new changing facility
- Attract new players and members
- Reseed the square following the floods
- Further grow our Women & Girls section
Why it's a great idea:
Sileby is a growing village with new families coming to the area to take places in the new developments built recently and still continues.
We know that we have great facilities and aim to continue to provide an environment that enables our local community to connect with sport, integrate and develop a community hub at our cricket club.
With England winning the Cricket World Cup in the summer of 2019, now is the best possible time to set our club to receive new members and help boost the numbers of people having the best possible first experience of cricket.
We have suffered at the hands of the weather during the 2019 autumn, the floods have halted any progress we would have made and we cannot progress with the completion of the new building that will comply with building regulations.
Steps to get it done:
- Order materials to undertake the work
- Enlist support of volunteers to labour for the work
- Source builder to carry out the work
- Source contractor to refurbish existing nets
- Open the new clubhouse officially, inviting pledgers
