Our project aims to provide a safe, supportive space for Shadwell’s children during the challenging winter months of January to March. At Glamis Adventure Playground, we’ll serve over 480 hot meals and host engaging fire and bushcraft workshops, along with free play sessions.
Many families in Shadwell face financial hardship, especially post-Christmas, with limited resources for nutritious food and safe play opportunities. Our project is designed to fill this gap, offering warm meals, practical outdoor skills, and fun educational playtime in a secure and inclusive environment. These sessions encourage physical activity, creativity, social skills and foster a sense of belonging, making a real difference to children’s well-being. Tower Hamlets has the highest rate of child poverty in the UK and we aim to support Shadwell’s young residents with high quality nutrition and support they need to thrive. With your support, we can create a winter haven for these kids!
What we'll deliver:
- 480 hot meals for the children
- 10 fire and bush craft sessions
- 10 winter play sessions
Why it's a great idea:
Our project will provide vital support to children and families during the difficult winter months. By offering nutritious hot meals, we help ease food insecurity for local families, ensuring children have access to wholesome meals that boost health and well-being. The winter play sessions and bushcraft workshops will give kids safe, structured opportunities for active play and hands-on learning, enhancing their social skills, resilience, and creativity. Beyond immediate needs, this project also builds a sense of community and belonging. Children from diverse backgrounds will come together in a supportive environment, fostering friendships and positive connections. Also, the workshops offer a rare chance for urban kids to engage with nature, learning valuable outdoor skills and building confidence. By supporting families through these cold months, our project strengthens the whole community, creating lasting benefits for local children’s physical, emotional and social development.
