We would like to reduce household waste and increase awareness and the use of reusable nappies for the families across Sevenoaks District
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Disposable nappies make up 3% of all household waste in the UK. Our goal is to work towards reducing this waste in Sevenoaks District by raising awareness and the use of cloth nappies. We plan to offer monthly information sessions across the District (Edenbridge, Otford, New Ash Green and Swanley) where families can access information and support from our volunteers with using cloth nappies. Families will also have the opportunity to borrow a selection of cloth nappies free for a month so that they can get a really good idea of how to use them, whether using cloth works for them and also find out which types of nappies work best for their family before investing in their own. Families will also receive ongoing support as they continue to use cloth nappies so that they can share experiences and have questions answered as they arise. Families using cloth nappies can save money by using cloth nappies. We’d also like to provide free long term nappy loans to low income families.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Families will be supported throughout their cloth nappy experience and will be more likely to succeed Local parents will have the opportunity to volunteer their time, build their confidence, give back to their community and share their passion for using cloth nappies A lack of knowledge or funds will no longer be a barrier to using cloth nappies in Sevenoaks District New parents will have more opportunities to build friendships and social networks within their community by attending library sessions and accessing our social media support There will be less household waste for local rubbish trucks to pick up each week
