More about our impact
The environment
We have used fewer disposable items where possible to support these classes (even if it means more washing up!). We also ensure that our messy play activities are taste safe to ensure not toxic effects from harsh chemicals.
The local economy
We have been able to pay some sessional staff and venue hire using this funding
Volunteering, jobs & education
These sessions cannot run without volunteers on hand to help set up, engage the children and moms and tidy up afterwards. The volunteers have been involved with planning and sourcing ideas and equipment and we are proud that we have 5 unique sessions that we can adapt and deliver going forward, which will help to raise revenue for HappyMOMents.
Arts, culture & heritage
We have helped the Moms and children learn Makaton through our classes which has helped them to communicate better and earlier with each other. Our sensory classes are all based on a story, so we actively selected new and more inclusive stories like the one about dinosaurs fossils from Scotland (Dugie the dinosaur) or a diverse and inclusive story about moving to a snowy village from a busy city (Snowflakes) or exploring bubbles with a diverse cast of characters in Bubble Babies!
Activity, health and leisure
All our classes are very active and encourage the little ones and their Moms to move around through movement and play. We inform attendees of other local groups that are on too which has meant that many friendships and support networks have been formed through our classes- result!
