More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

We have increased the wildlife, introduced bug hotels, bee houses, bird boxes and a bat box. We have increased our wildflower area to attract more pollinators. We have increased our plant age and do not use any pesticides or chemicals. We recycle, reuse and re-gift. We have a compost area, compost bins and water butts.

The local economy

The local economy

our garden is open all year round, is free to access and enjoy - we also had many people donate plants and flowers and this made them feel valued and they were doing their bit for others to enjoy. Any plants purchased were sourced locally boosting local economy

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

We made volunteering more accessible and inclusive reducing barriers to volunteering by engaging and listening to individuals, what they can and cannot do. We know volunteering opens doors, increases confidence and wellbeing and is the stepping stone to gaining employment. We have also held training days to teach people new skills and to try something new.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

people came and learned about the history of the garden, it was 60 years old, why was it built, we have a mulberry tree which its hundreds of years old, we learned about elm trees and why they were imported and grown

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

being involved in the garden has increased health and wellbeing, becoming more active, meeting new people and being less lonely and isolated.
