Help us to buy a digital projector so that we can continue delivering our weekly film screenings for the South Norwood community.
Screen25 is weekly community-led cinema in the heart of South Norwood. We offer a welcoming space for local people to come together and enjoy the latest independent and mainstream films, enhanced by Q&As, panel discussions, shorts and much more. For the past nine months we been dependent on a projector generously loaned to us by Hurst Village Cinema, who came to our rescue after we lost our previous venue in May 2017. This has enabled us to continue our work without too much disruption and has helped us to settle into our new home at Harris Academy. We would now like to return this projector to its rightful owner and purchase our own so that we can secure our future and continue building a sustainable and inclusive cultural hub for South Norwood.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Having access to a projector is critical in enabling us to carry out our activities as a community cinema. We believe that film is one of the world’s most accessible art forms and has the power to transform lives. As a Community Interest Company our ongoing mission is to: • Integrate our diverse community through an inclusive film programme catering for a wide demographic, including families, young people and BME groups; • Provide work experience and volunteering opportunities for local people; • Collaborate with local charities and businesses to support local enterprise and strengthen our social impact. Since we started life as a monthly film club in 2015 we have hosted over 100 screenings and welcomed around 4,000 people. We have a loyal membership base, with nearly 100 new members signing up in the past 12 months.
Steps to get it done:
We are pleased to offer a number of rewards for people backing this project: Donate £10 or more: Your name included in a list of backers to be projected onto the screen before the film + a free Screen25 badge Donate £20 or more: Your name projected on the screen + Screen25 badge + Screen25 tote bag Donate £30 or more: Your name projected on the screen + Screen25 badge & tote bag + 2 free cinema tickes (to be redeemed within 2 months)

Dear Backers Last week saw the long awaited arrival of our shiny new Epsom TW9300 projector, which was paid for with the funds raised through this campaign earlier in the year (cast your minds back...!). As I we explained previously, we had a few issues with the projector we originally planned on getting, but we think this one is even better and the films look extra crisp in 4K. A huge final thanks again to everyone who backed our campaign, and thank you for your patience whilst we got this all sorted. We hope to welcome you to a Screen25 event soon to experience the new projector, and still have rewards available for those who haven't collected yet! Best wishes Screen25 team
Dear Backers We wanted to update you on the status on our new projector, which you so generously helped us to fund. Unfortunately we have found ourselves in a rather difficult situation which we are trying to work through as quickly as we can, and think it is only fair that you should be aware of what is going on. After receiving the new Optoma projector back in May, we were surprised to discover that it did not align with the specification we gave to our supplier, and that they had in fact recommended a model that was incompatible with our setup. Despite our arguments that the projector is "not fit for purpose", the supplier is refusing to admit their mistake and offer us a refund, or an exchange with a more suitable model. After several weeks of back-and-forth and going round in circles, we are now in contact with the Managing Director who recently acquired the company and is trying to work out the best way forward. As I'm sure you can appreciate, the situation is immensely frustrating for us and we want nothing more than for things to be resolved so we can install the new projector as promised, and focus on delivering high quality film screenings for our community. Thank you so much again for your support and for bearing with us while we work to find a solution. Best wishes, Screen25 Team
We are super excited to announce that our new projector is on its way and is due to touch down in South Norwood tomorrow!! Thanks again to everyone who helped to make this happen. We'd love for you all to join us for the big unveiling tomorrow (Wednesday) evening ahead of our screening of Battle of the Sexes. Tickets can be purchased here: www.screen25.com/whats-on/battle-of-the-sexes
We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have reached our crowdfunding goal, with 1 week still to go!! Thank you to the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation for pledging a whopping £1,400 and getting us well beyond our target! 🎉🎉🎉 A massive heart-felt THANK YOU to everyone who supported this campaign. It means the world to have our work validated in this way, and to know that what we are doing is valued by so many people. We will be in touch in due course to arrange rewards in the form of tote bags, badges, tickets etc, so keep an eye on your inbox if you are expecting something! Friday's fundraiser screening of BASICALLY, JOHNNY MOPED will still go ahead (attended by Johnny Moped himself!), and instead we have decided to put the money towards an application for a much-needed premises license which will enable us to run a licensed bar every week, boosting our revenue long-term and improving the social experience for our audiences. We hope you can join us on Friday to raise a glass. As a thank-you we would like to offer all our backers a free glass of prosecco before the screening - just show this email to our bar staff and it's all yours! 🥂 Find out more about the event here: https://www.screen25.com/whats-on/basically-johnny-moped
