The idea
We want to make an exhibit appropriate for ages 7+ to deliver a fun, engaging educational tour to teach topics of history and geography for school visitors.
We will introduce the children to the barn with an engaging animated potted history of the Barn and the significance of it within local history, narrated by a familiar voice. We will take the children on a walking tour of the Barn, Granary, Manor House and Church where the children might take part in arrow sharpening or bell pulling. We have a scavenger hunt that navigates children around the Barn and Hamlet seeking out answers & driving discussion.
The information boards will be redesigned to be double sided, one side being a detailed account of the barn, and the other side will be imagery and illustrations relating to curriculum e.g. Saxon,Roman/WW2.
What we'll deliver
- Double sided information boards so we can flip our exhibit for relevant audience.
- Interactive exhibit to be used on school visits and open days
- A tour designed for school visits
- An engaging video relevant to the age group
Why it's a great idea
We will be creating a new space for local schools to bring children to learn about local history. Aspects of WW2 and The Saxon invasion.
We will be engaging children in the importance of heritage and conservation.
