The idea

Refurbish, extend and reconfigure the cricket club kitchen to create a safe, hygienic and accessible space for a growing community club. This includes expanding into the adjoining storage room to significantly increase capacity and functionality.

The current kitchen is no longer fit for purpose, with broken cupboards, outdated energy-inefficient appliances and limited preparation space. It cannot support a club of over 500 members across junior (boys’ and girls’), women’s, senior and inclusive cricket programmes.

Recent member fundraising has improved toilets and upgraded clubhouse and patio furniture, creating a more welcoming environment. However, the kitchen now limits further progress. We are seeking grant funding alongside continued fundraising to complete this key phase.

The project will increase use of the clubhouse and enable off-season hire, generating sustainable income and creating a valuable community space in West London.

Why it's a great idea

- Community access: Provides a safe, compliant kitchen available to local groups, schools and community events, increasing public use of shared space.
- Sustainable income: Enables controlled winter and off‑season venue hire and catering, generating revenue to fund coaching, bursaries and facility maintenance.
- Stronger grassroots cricket: Additional income and improved clubhouse facilities support junior (boys & girls), women’s and inclusive cricket programmes, bursaries and coaching delivery.
- Inclusion and accessibility: Accessible counters and facilities make the clubhouse welcoming to people with mobility or sensory needs.
- Skills and volunteering: Training for volunteers in food safety and event management builds local capacity and creates new volunteering roles.
- Tangible, time‑bound outcome: A completed, usable kitchen with booking procedures and trained stewards, ready for community use and grant reporting.
