More about our impact
The environment
Our new astro turf carpet is designed to last 20 years, reducing the need for frequent replacements and minimising waste. In addition, the durable, all-weather pitch allows for year-round play, reducing the need for travel to distant facilities and lowering the carbon footprint for both pupils and community users.
The local economy
Our new astro turf has boosted the local economy by attracting community clubs, holiday programmes, and sports tournaments, bringing more visitors into the area. This increased use supports local businesses such as shops, cafés, and accommodation providers. In addition, the long-term durability of the surface means a strong return on investment, ensuring that both the school and community continue to benefit for the next 20 years.
Volunteering, jobs & education
The astro turf has expanded opportunities for volunteering and education by enabling more school fixtures, community sport, and holiday clubs to take place on site. The facility also creates additional coaching and lettings opportunities, supporting local employment. Most importantly, 1,500 pupils at The Cotswold School benefit directly through enhanced PE lessons, extracurricular sport, and pathways into higher-level competition and further education.
Activity, health and leisure
The new astro turf has transformed opportunities for activity, health, and leisure by providing a safe, all-weather surface that can be used year-round. It supports daily PE for 1,500 pupils, alongside school teams, community clubs, and holiday programmes, encouraging more people of all ages to be active. By making sport more accessible and enjoyable, the facility promotes healthier lifestyles, teamwork, and wellbeing across the school and the wider community.
