By The Llanmorlais Community Hall charity
We're making repairs to the hall ready for its rebuild. We'll be removing one pine end wall, stripping the roof and temporarily sealing and securing it all, ready for structural engineer's assessment.
Llanmorlais community Hall is a registered charity and the local community raised all the money to build it in 1974. It is totally self funded by the community through the annual carnival and the current groups that use the facillity. However during the pandemic it was closed and The city and county of Swansea council issued us with grants due to our charitable status. In 2020 the hall required a new roof which was completed in 2021and with further internal refurbishment the hall reopened in June 2021, much to the delight of the faithful groups that have been involved for many years. Unbelievably gaps appeared in the new tiles and the pine end of the building began to bow and following extensive consultation with insurers and structural engineers it was deemed that the roof timbers had collapsed causing the structural damage .Our insurers and the roofers would not cover us, and so we need to raise funds to enable our community to have access to reengage in all their social activities.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Rebuilding the pine ends and timbers and replacing the roof , will enable the hall to reopen and be viable for another 20 years, this will benefit the local and wider community and encourage new and existing groups. The groups using the Hall are diverse and age ranges from birth to the elderly community. The Hall provides a safe, fun environment for all local groups and the wider community. The community halls priority is to improve skills, health and well being , culture, inclusion and diversity. To engage with new users and get more people involved. to provide access to groups and to forge relationships and promote friendship and community cohesion.
Steps to get it done:
Enable all the faithful groups and users to return so that they can benefit through socialisation, learn new skills and participate in health and well being activities. Support local charities with their fundraising . Make the hall available for parties, concerts and fayres . Enable the hall to be used by County and city of Swansea for polling , local development consultations and regular polling
