More about our impact
The environment
It is hoped that now that there is a clear and usable crossing and path that there will be less trampling of the native bluebells in the woods and less erosion of the stream bank.
Volunteering, jobs & education
The project has helped to raise the profile of Sandgate Conservation Society locally. There has been a increase in the number of new members this year and at least one new work party volunteer so far.
Activity, health and leisure
The bridge creates a circular walk at Sandgate Park which includes different habitats so offers variety and interest and is of a reasonable length. The bridge also provides disabled access to a wildlife pond at which kingfishers, as well as mallard ducks and other water fowl, have been sighted.
