Historically a neglected quarry near the NHS Medical Centre, this green space has transformed into a eco-educational haven through FOMD's unprecedented environmental cleanup in 2024. Removing 266 bin bags of litter and 25 tons of debris entangled in Ivy, FOMD tirelessly eliminated harmful pollutants threatening local wildlife. Backed by a substantial NHS social value grant, steps have been taken to introduce safe accessibility features for vulnerable residents, ensuring the space benefits the whole community. To date, three distinct nature zones of woodland interest have been interconnected by a secure pathway, and with your support we plan to construct the last 50 m path required to unite the fourth area. This project’s vision balances biodiversity restoration with community engagement, transforming the Dell into an inspiring haven for nature and people alike. Your support would enable us to complete this final step towards creating a fully integrated and restorative green refuge.

What we'll deliver:

  • 50 m Path with steps.
  • Large Planting of woodland microclimate shade loving plants eg ferns

Why it's a great idea:

• Increased accessibility features foster inclusion, allowing vulnerable residents and individuals with mobility issues to safely enjoy the space. • Restoring biodiversity supports local wildlife health and improves ecological stability. • Physical activity opportunities through volunteering and nature walks contribute to overall community wellness. • Connecting nature zones creates seamless interaction with diverse ecosystems, inspiring education and appreciation for local flora and fauna. • Enhancing community pride and inspiring community engagement.

  • Purchase Materials & Install 50m lower gravel bound path with access steps
  • After access path installation purchase and plant woodland shrubs
  • Create harmonious composting bins and Bug hotel using recycled material.
