To illuminate the 2 figures on the facade of the listed Grade 2 Old Schoolhouse in Rotherhithe. The lighting will celebrate & strengthen the special characteristics of the local conservation area.
Rotherhithe Illuminated ! is a task and finish subgroup of the long established community organisation, What's on in Rotherhithe Group (WORG).
WORG was formed in 2011 to promote the historic sites and activities in Rotherhithe.
Rotherhithe Illuminated! (RI!) was formed to conduct a feasibility study and installation of a legacy lighting scheme on key elements of 5 historic buildings, a sculpture and some riverside trees in the Rotherhithe Conservation Area. It was intended that the whole scheme would be funded and implemented in June 2020 to coincide with the 400 years since the sailing of the Mayflower from Rotherhithe. Alas C-19 scuppered that timescale. RI! are hopeful of installing the lighting during 2021 on atleast some of the identified buildings and sculpture and trees.
The Project Owner takes legal responsibility for receiving and spending the funds raised and ensuring the project is delivered.
