We want to set up a climbing club for children and young people so that they can access this fantastic activity free of charge, develop great skills and team work and gain nationally recognised awards

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

The idea

We will set up a youth climbing club and run weekly sessions of both indoor and outdoor climbing and bouldering. The sessions will be delivered by qualified and experienced coaches and opportunities to develop and achieve nationally recognised awards (through the NICAS scheme). The young people will also be able to progress to volunteering through supporting their peers and other communities and at events with our mobile climbing wall.

What we'll deliver

  • 20 children/ young people taking part
  • 10 children/ young people attaining the NICAS L1 Award
  • 5 children/ young people attaining the NICAs L2 Award
  • 6 young people progressing into volunteering

Why it's a great idea

The young people will benefit from the climbing club through:

Developing social skills
Improving confidence
Boosting independence
Making positive contributions to society

Steps to get it done
