The environment

The environment

At this year’s Riverday Revival, held on 14th June 2025 in Long Meadow, Swinbrook, we proudly placed environmental awareness at the heart of our community celebration. A key highlight was the powerful presence of WASP (Windrush Against Sewage Pollution), whose involvement brought critical attention to the ongoing challenges facing our local rivers. The event was officially opened with a compelling speech from WASP representatives, who shared eye-opening insights into the state of the River Windrush — a cherished natural resource that has suffered from pollution and neglect. Their message resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom were unaware of the extent of sewage discharge and its impact on local ecosystems. By giving WASP a platform at the fête, we created a space for education, engagement, and action. Visitors were able to learn about the causes and consequences of river pollution, as well as practical steps they could take to support cleaner waterways. The speech sparked meaningful conversations throughout the day and inspired many to get involved in local environmental efforts. This collaboration not only aligned with our event’s environmental focus but also empowered our community to become better stewards of the natural world. We are proud to have helped amplify WASP’s vital message and look forward to continuing this partnership in future events.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

Riverday Revival 2025 was not only a celebration of community and the environment — it was a shining example of what can be achieved when people come together with passion and purpose. At the heart of this success were our incredible volunteers, whose time, energy, and enthusiasm made the day truly unforgettable. From the early hours of setup to the final moments of takedown, local villagers rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in. The Tea Tent was a hive of activity, lovingly run by a dedicated team who kept the brews flowing and the cakes coming. Our marshalls ensured everything ran smoothly and safely, guiding guests and keeping the day on track with smiles and good humour. Children’s laughter echoed across Long Meadow thanks to the volunteers who ran the kids’ activities, creating a fun and welcoming space for families. Behind the scenes, countless others helped with logistics, coordination, and the all-important clean-up — all done with a spirit of generosity and community pride. This event simply wouldn’t have been possible without the dozens of local residents who gave their time so freely. Their efforts not only made the day a success but also strengthened the bonds that make our village such a special place to live. To every volunteer: thank you. You were the heartbeat of Riverday Revival.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

The event was held in a spacious open field, which provided ample room for a wide variety of activities and stalls for attendees to enjoy and explore. A diverse programme was delivered, offering something for everyone and encouraging community participation throughout the day. One of the standout moments was the Raft Race along the river, which promoted physical activity, teamwork, and plenty of friendly competition. In addition, a vibrant mix of stalls, games, and interactive experiences offered leisure and entertainment for all ages, making it a fun, active, and inclusive day for the entire community.
