The idea

RISE (Routes Into Skills & Employment) is Beyond Futures Community CIC’s flagship employability programme, supporting people across Birmingham who face barriers to employment, education and career progression. Through personalised one-to-one support, we help participants build confidence, develop skills and take positive steps towards sustainable employment. Funding will enable us to support up to 150 people through tailored action plans, CV writing, interview preparation, careers guidance, job search support and confidence coaching. Participants will also be connected to employers, apprenticeship opportunities, training providers, Functional Skills and ESOL courses where appropriate. Support will be delivered through community outreach, partner organisations, libraries and community venues, ensuring it is accessible to those who need it most. By working collaboratively with local employers and training providers, RISE creates clear pathways into employment, apprenticeships, education

What we'll deliver

  • Deliver one-to-one careers guidance and employability support for up to 150 participants.
  • Deliver CV writing, interview preparation and job search support.
  • Deliver community outreach sessions and referrals to employment, training and apprenticeship opportunities.

Why it's a great idea

RISE will help people overcome barriers that prevent them from accessing employment, training and education. Participants will receive personalised support to improve their confidence, develop employability skills and create realistic action plans towards their goals. The project will increase access to careers advice, improve CVs and interview skills, connect residents with employers and training opportunities, and reduce isolation by providing ongoing encouragement and support. As more people move into work, apprenticeships or further learning, the wider community will benefit from increased economic participation, stronger local skills and greater social inclusion. By working with community organisations, employers and training providers, RISE will strengthen local partnerships and create lasting pathways that continue to support Birmingham residents beyond the life of this funding.
