The environment

Made people aware of the beauty of the public squares in Lancaster. The festival itself had a big push on environmental sustainability this year including banner recycling workshops and the Rush was part of this event. All clothes shared are also recycled old red clothes

The local economy

As part of Lancaster Music Festival as a free event in a public square. A free family friendly event as part of a free 4 day festival featuring over 550 free performances from over 300 artists and performers. The economic impact of the wider event is huge as the busiest weekend of the year in Lancaster using business improvement districts footfall stats . The economic impact last year including all spends in businesses and pubs plus hotel trade was estimated at over 2 million

Lancaster Music Festival of which the Rush was part generates work across the city for over 300 artists and performers and also provides a platform for training and education in the arts through our young peoples Academy and other technical , logistical, production and creative roles. Acts such as the Rush in public squares allow many people to engage with the event who may find access to smaller, indoor venues an issue

Huge impact on the city by using the public squares for performance. An increased sense of pride in the city and an opportunity for anyone who can dance to be part of the event . Many people who are engaged through free public events such as this go on to develop their skills and become part of the wider artistic community contributing to the cultural capital of the city

The 230 dancers over the 4 performances plus practices all got to dance fairly hard for at least 30 mins each time. There was also a great feel good factor
