Updates
What an amazing community we have around here! Our Manor Park playground fund is almost at £5k from the community and today's deadline is looming. Add it to the local councillors and business donations and we have hit the £8k target we set. So along with the £140,000 that Kingston Council are still allocating to the new playground, we will be able to create a great new play space for our kids. We should have a time line soon and be able to update you with plans in the not too distant future. Keep an eye out on the Old Malden Residents facebook page. If you haven't done so already, please donate and share to boost the fund even more in it's final hours. www.gofundme.com/f/revivify-manor-park-our-new-playground Thank you so much to all who have donated - we are well aware that it is a very difficult time.
Donations have slowed down from the fantastic burst we had at the beginning, so this is just a gentle nudge for anyone who intended to donate but had forgotten to. We have money coming from the local councillors but we are still a couple of thousand short of our target. Please go to https://www.gofundme.com/f/revivify-manor-park-our-new-playground to give what you can and then share to your friends, family and connections too. Thank you
As you know, we launched this Spacehive campaign in February to help pay for the new playground in Manor Park. Kingston Council allocated a budget of £140,000, and we planned to help raise an additional £60,000 to make it a play space the community could be proud of. We had amazing support from the local community, including your good self, with just under £10,000 pledged. The aim was to raise a proportion of the £60,000 locally from residents and businesses, with the GLA providing a substantial contribution hopefully. Sadly, and you’ll no doubt have seen the notification from Spacehive, the campaign failed to hit target as the Mayor of London did not choose our campaign as one to support and then Covid 19 struck with lockdown affecting fundraising badly. It was always all or nothing, but we had felt it was worth taking the risk to try to unlock the extra substantial GLA funds. Our response. All is not lost - Kingston Council has confirmed that they will still allocate us £140,000, which is amazing as we feared it might be put towards for their Covid response. We are now refining the original plan – still with 2 play spaces – for younger and older children – but working more creatively with the smaller budget. Our aim is to free as much of the new budget for new play equipment, as well as finding innovative ways to deliver the non-play equipment e.g. benches, picnic tables, trees, and general landscaping. Can you still help? A big yes! When you backed the crowdfund campaign in the spring, you agreed to make your contribution only if the campaign hit target. As it didn’t, the direct debit payment you set up was cancelled and no money ever left your bank account. As we still want to deliver a playground, hopefully this year, we’d like to ask you to re-offer your contribution to a new crowdfund campaign, which we will run until the end of July. Every penny pledged will go towards the new playground. So, we’d like to ask you to consider re-pledging the same amount again into our new campaign. This time your pledge will be taken immediately and all of it will go to the new playground. There is no hit or miss target with this campaign. We simply want to add as much to the pot as possible, however we totally understand if your circumstances have changed. If you are able, please donate via this link and share with friends and family; https://www.gofundme.com/f/revivify-manor-park-our-new-playground If you’d like to ask a question please reply to this message or send me an email direct to [email protected] Thank you so much for your support thus far, watch this space - it IS going to happen! Fiona P.S. Join Us – Parents Playground Group We’d love it if a group of local parents would like to ‘adopt’ the new playground and be involved in getting it set up, by helping with planting, installing benches, organising your fellow parents to keep an eye on the new playground, and just creating a parent community in Manor Park. Let me know if you're interested.
