The idea
Lissenden Gardens is made up of three blocks, with 250 flats, centred around a tennis court. The blocks are originally owned by Camden and the majority of the flats are still social housing. Lissenden Gardens has a diverse community and the central tennis gives the estate a special community atmosphere. We have a very active residents association. Over the summer we organise tennis coaching with a tournament at the end, and a wide mix of children and adults on the estate attend. It provides a great opportunity for kids and adults on the estate to get to know each other and get into tennis. However the court is in bad need of repair, with cracks where a tree root is coming through and faded paint. Although the court gets used throughout the year, it would get more use and give the community a sense of pride if it were in better state. We would therefore like to fund dealing with the tree root and resurfacing of the court.

Why it's a great idea
This will revive a community asset in bad state of repair. It will increase use of the tennis court bringing kids and adults on the estate together (for example those that meet over the summer course and tournament) and create a sense of pride in the community. It will also get people into tennis, including many that may otherwise not have the chance to play, with associated health benefits.
