Sunderland Maritime Heritage is the premier organisation of its type in Tyne and Wear. We aim to record, preserve and conserve all aspects of Sunderland's great Shipbuilding and Maritime history. We are a Registered Charity with an all-Volunteer membership of approximately 30, mostly retired men with a variety of key skills. Our cadre includes folk with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Dementia as well as giving our Volunteers useful and worthwhile work and companionship. (Particularly key in older men)
This crowdfund is to enable us to recover Motor Vessel Wearmouth, the last wooden Pilot Boat on the River Wear, from its current home in North Wales back to Sunderland, where she spent 40 years helping large ships enter and leave the Port.
