We need people to offer skills, time or resources to develop this project. Check what’s needed below, then click ‘Volunteer’ to get involved.

Volunteers needed for repairs, PAT testing, baking, admin, greeting guests, and running the café. If you're handy, organized, or just love making people feel welcome, we'd love to have you on board!
Repairers - are you confident and competent at repairing electrical items, clothes or anything else? We'd love if you could pledge some of your time!
PAT Tester - Are you a certified PAT tester? We'd love it if you could help us at our repair cafes
Organising/Admin - Could you help us with organising the repair cafe ahead of the events? Sending out emails, coordinating volunteers and generally helping to make sure everything is ready for the day! We'd love to hear from you!
Meet and Greet Volunteer - Could you help us at our events, signing in customers with their items and getting all the info we need so we can direct them to the best repairer for them? We'd love to have you join us!
Baker! - Could you bake cakes or other treats to go with our teas/coffees at the repair cafe? We'd love it if you could help us
Cafe Volunteer - Could you help us run the cafe on the day, making teas/coffees and serving cakes/biscuits? We'd love to have you come along!

Urban Hax CIC is a community makerspace and creative incubator based just north of Walsall town centre. It is home to a wide variety of creative enterprises but also houses a makerspace where local residents can access and make use of the tools and facilities to design, make, repair and recycle/upcycle things using our workshop facilities and our extensive range of tools, equipment and machinery.

Urban Hax also undertake creative projects including those which help raise the profile of the town, help to promote environmental best practice or which involve local artists and other creatives.

We've been in existence for over ten years and employ local people to improve their skills and run a wide variety of creative courses for people especially those who are unemployed or disadvantaged.

Currently under development, Walsall’s Grade II listed Guildhall building is being transformed into a vibrant Creative Industries Enterprise Centre (CIEC), celebrating the borough’s rich heritage through new innovation for future generations.

This makerspace, to be run by Urban Hax, will include support and facilities for creatives to run and grow creative businesses and projects across art, science and technology.

More than just a business space, it will be a hive of creativity, with a café, gallery space for creative organisations to exhibit their work, and open to residents to engage with the space. Conference facilities will host a range of creative and cultural events for the wider community.

Central to these aspirations is Repair Café Walsall which will open up the space to a wide range of residents who may find engaging with the wider project a challenge.

The funding of Repair Café Walsall would underpin and kickstart activity in the Guildhall and hopefully be a gateway to undertaking further activity in the wider project.
