Refurbish the historic clock in the tower of St Helen's Church. The tower, part of the most historic building in Northwich, is a local landmark and the clock has faces to North, East, South and West
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
To carry out significant renovations to the public facing historic clock in the high tower of St Helen's Church Northwich. The clock was manufactured by W H Bailey of Salford in 1888. It was converted from manual winding to automatic winding in 2011. An extensive survey has been carried out by a highly respected Clock company in order to identify exactly what refurbishment is essential in order to ensure the clock is saved in good working order for future generations. Following professional advice St Helen’s Parochial Church Council has decided that further ad hoc fixes should not be carried out but that a full scale refurbishment is the most practical way forward. Critical parts of the clock will be removed so that all items can be professionally checked and repaired or replaced as necessary in workshops where the best technical expertise and equipment is available.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
This historic clock will be saved from further degeneration. The whole community around Northwich will see this land mark clock correctly functioning.
Steps to get it done:
St Helen's Church is the oldest and most beautiful building in Northwich. It is our most important heritage building. Sitting on a raised location the tower and clock are significant land marks.
