Walsall Bereavement Support Service (WBSS) is dedicated to addressing the impact of bereavement on the health and well-being of residents in Walsall borough. We have 3 key divisons of the organisaiton that includes Let’s Talk,The Swing and the Insight Institute; adults bereavement support, children’s bereavement support and counsellors in training hub. We offer free, 1:1 in-person or virtual counselling, workshops, groups and drop-in sessions to anyone struggling with grief, regardless of the circumstances of their loss. This service is staffed by volunteers undergoing counselling training, a team of experienced counsellors and administrator. With three decades of experience in delivering bereavement support, WBSS is uniquely positioned to fill the gap in specialist services in Walsall.
The initiative to establish peer support spaces under the direction of the Walsall Bereavement Support Service stems from a deep-seated commitment to addressing the unmet needs of individuals grappling with the profound impact of loss and bereavement. Recognising the inherent challenges and complexities associated with navigating the grief journey, we are driven by a steadfast determination to provide accessible and inclusive avenues of support for our community members. Through these peer support spaces, we aim to cultivate a nurturing and empathetic environment where individuals can find solace, companionship, and practical guidance as they traverse the intricate terrain of grief. By fostering connections, sharing experiences, and empowering individuals with coping strategies, our overarching goal is to instill hope, resilience, and healing within the hearts and minds of those in need. Together, we embark on this journey of compassion and solidarity, guided by the unwavering belief in the transformative power of communal support and shared understanding.
