Live Broadcasting for Red Kite Radio
We want to buy specialist outside broadcast equipment so that Red Kite Radio will be able to broadcast in real time at a huge range of community events, promoting them live on air as they happen!
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
About the Project Creator
Red Kite Radio (RKR) is a not-for-profit community radio station broadcasting classic hits from the 60s to the present, news and community information on 107.2 FM 365 days a year since June 2017. Transmitting from its base at Haddenham Garden Centre, it provides a community radio service for Haddenham, Thame and over 50 villages in Buckinghamshire and South Oxfordshire.
Red Kite Radio supports those who give back to the community and local voices. Their presenters attend community events, carnivals and shows with pre-promotion and interviews, as well as involvement on the day. An important part of Red Kite Radio’s community coverage is broadcasting about visits to (for example) hospices and clubs for older people with mental health or other issues, and reporting on charity events that attract participants from all parts of the community, young and old, such as midnight walks, cycle races, and lottery draws.
Red Kite Radio would like to extend their coverage of community events by broadcasting live from events. They need £5,000 to purchase portable outside broadcasting equipment, which will enable community events to be broadcast live as they happen. By delivering live coverage of indoor and outdoor events, from village fetes and fun days to beer festivals and carnivals, the events can be promoted as they happen, rather than recorded for later transmission, bringing them to the attention of a potential audience of 49,000 in their radio coverage area. Red Kite Radio are committed to maximising community participation through live interviews and radio requests so that the station truly reflects and represents the community it serves.
In September 2019 Red Kite Radio was shortlisted in the national Community Radio Awards, whittled down from over 425 entries submitted by community radio stations around the UK.
