Based on Kirkleatham Street close to the heart of the town we are a club steeped in history, having been formed in 1850 in the spot we are still located. We are a founding member of the cricket premier league in our area and are often given huge cricketing events by the league such as, this year we have been asked to host - crickets newest format - THE HUNDRED (a way for even new cricket fans to get into the game), we will be playing host to the area finals day for this tournament. We also see our selves as a pinpoint in the local community, playing host to several community groups including groups for widowed people, heritage groups as well as hosting parties for adults with learning disabilities. Cricket, following last years great success of England’s World Cup Win and standout performances in the Ashes, is growing in popularity again. However, the biggest boundary to starting out is cost, with protective equipment necessary from grassroots along with having correct clothing. Because of this, Redcar this year, are looking to assist those in our area who want to get started in the game, providing a starter set of protective equipment for use during games as well as team kit for players to wear; this along with new training equipment is estimated to cost currently around £1500 to provide this start for newcomers to the game.
But being a volunteer ran community club, raising such funds for an opportunity to get more involved in sport is something that can feel out of reach. Yes, we are aware that this seems like a lot, however we hope that allowing more people to get that leg up into sport is seen as a worthwhile investment! However, we do hope you can help us provide this opportunity to build the sport in our area.
