The idea
The aim is to install in the city centre an interactive vending machine which, rather than give items out, will collect products which can then be recycled, with a visual “reward” for the person who contributes.
Along with becoming a local visitor attraction – and so boosting the economy with visitors deciding to spend more time in the city – it will also prove an excellent educational tool to teach young people about the need to recycle.
Explaining to them from an early age about the importance of this process can help create behaviour and a sense of responsibility which hopefully will be a life lesson.
The machine will have different slots for different kinds of products ie plastic, glass and metal which are particularly relevant in a city centre where people may be walking around with bottles or cans of drinks.
