The idea
The Martin Gallier Project supports people affected by suicide and works with them until they are able to confirm safety from suicide indefinitely. However we have found that there is a gap between being out of suicidal crisis and being able to function with good mental health. Very often our clients need tools to build their mental health back up, and our Recovery Star Workshops were designed to do just that.
This project will deliver a series of 10 week workshops to clients who struggle with their mental health. Each week covers a different aspect of mental health such as; Managing Mental Health, Self-care, Living skills, Social networks, Work, Relationships, Addictive behaviour (healthy coping strategies), Responsibilities, Identity and Self Esteem, and Trust and Hope.
This gives our clients the best possible chance of living life with added coping strategies and a mental health toolbox.
What we'll deliver
- A 10 week recovery star course based in Chester City Centre
- Access to support from suicide intervention workers should they need crisis support
- Mental health materials to take home
Why it's a great idea
The Recovery Star Workshops will bring great benefits to our clients and the wider society, including better mental health, teaching them useful skills for getting back into work, decreasing pressure on the NHS and surrounding services from future mental health crises, and bringing together a community in a safe environment.
