More about our impact

The environment

Instead of holding the workshops in person and due to budget restrictions, we have been holding these workshops over Zooms which also saves paper and carbon emissions from travel

The local economy

Our Recovery Star Workshops promote healthy coping strategies that are useful to avoid crisis, stay in employment, and gain work. One of our Recovery Star Workshops is focused around work and managing responsibilities, and these are essential for those that need additional support to get/stay in work following crisis

Volunteering, jobs & education

We have supported 40 people from the Chester area, and 142 in total, giving them essential mental health coping strategies to ensure that they can stay in employment, education or volunteering, or rejoin employment after being stopped from doing so by their mental health

The Martin Gallier Project is the only suicide intervention, prevention and postvention service in the North West. Our Suicide Intervention Workers provide crisis support through immediate interventions on the high street with no barriers to access or waiting lists, thus reducing the need for clinical interventions and hospital admissions.

The one of a kind project was established by Jessica Gallier as a direct response to the impact of the death by suicide of her father Martin in 2017 and has been put together to tackle the areas we found to be lacking during Jess’ father’s journey with mental illness, the missed opportunities to save his life & the situations that we believed to be damaging to the family following his suicide. In February 2019 we opened Wirral’s first and only Suicide Prevention Centre, based in New Ferry. The centre is a non-clinical setting which offers immediate, evidence based, research backed crisis support on the highstreet.

The centre has seen incredible success and has delivered over 23,000 life saving suicide interventions since 2019. Most recently MGP has also been delivering an innovative partnership with CWP First Response Team, in which individuals who present at Arrowe Park A&E and are assessed by Liasion Psychiatry are referred directly to our organisation to receive immediate crisis support within a non clinical community setting. This partnership continues to go from strength to strength and has enabled our organisation to open a second centre in the heart of Chester, where any individual over 16 considering suicide can present to receive immediate crisis support.

We provide support to:

Those who live in the North West of England who are at risk of suicide or experiencing suicidal thoughts.
Those bereaved by suicide, who are then at higher risk of suicide themselves.
Orgnaisations stamped as suicide safer and their employees.
Schools stamped as suicide safer and their employees and students.
The whole community by awareness raising and stigma busting.

Project Owner: The Martin Gallier Project The Project Owner takes legal responsibility for receiving and spending the funds raised and ensuring the project is delivered.
