The idea
We believe the North East is special. We want to record and preserve its stories whilst we can by creating a short celebratory film, featuring interviews and stories of the Extraordinarily Ordinary people of our region.
We want to see the real people of the North East... miners, artists, people born here and those who have just arrived - everyone with a story to tell and who adds to the vibrancy of our region!
We want the film to go into schools, museums and online. We need to preserve our heritage and make sure that no one is forgotten. We are a part of the history of the UK. Our stories deserve to be told and our voices need to be heard!
What we'll deliver
- 15 Min Documentary
- A screening event for participants and the public - all will be welcome!
- A marketing campaign to get your stories out there - with the aim of further exhibition of the film
- An opportunity to highlight the great people of the North East, including all cultures, heritages and backgrounds!
- Create work for North East creatives and provide experience for those who wish to enter the Arts
Why it's a great idea
Our film will highlight the great people of our region. We will shine a light on the artists, the families, the weird and the wonderful... this is an opportunity to showcase, inspire and excite!
We want to foster pride in our region and show off what we have to offer. We want to attract more tourism, more investment and more opportunity.
Making our film will preserve stories. It will make children proud of where they come from.
Our film will create jobs, support businesses and highlight the people who call the North East home!
Steps to get it done
- Identify resident stories and crew
- Source filming locations
- Begin filming and documenting of stories
- Edit final film
- Premiere film with community event
- Market film to wider public
- Search for a permanent home for the film in a heritage location
The North East is overflowing with creative talent, but due to chronic underfunding, many of our communities lack opportunity. Even more so in relation to the arts and creative fields.
We want to reignite the creativity in the region, engage our communities and make them sure that they deserve a seat at the table. Film and TV, and the arts as a whole, should not be centred on the South East of England. Our region should have the same creative expression and opportunity.
