The idea
Radio Tamworth is the only community radio station in the area, and we would like to open up our Tamworth studios to put on free radio training courses for local residents of all ages.
The course would be put on by radio professionals; it would be an eight-week course, with training one evening per week, and would result in a certificate, a one-hour show tape and a potential spot as a presenter on Radio Tamworth.
The funding would contribute towards equipment and expert teachers.

Why it's a great idea
Participants would benefit hugely in confidence. Being able to broadcast on the radio boosts confidence and communication skills massively. They would also have to plan the shows and learn how to use the equipment. Some of our trainees on previous courses have gone on to have a career in the media, and others have said the transferable skills have been helpful for other lines of work.
