The idea
I would like to create Countryside Crossroads, a relaxed outdoor music and storytelling afternoon at Stafford Orchard in Quorn on Bank Holiday Sunday, 30 August 2026.
The event will feature a curated line-up of five singer-songwriters performing live acoustic sets, alongside storytelling moments, running from 1pm to 6pm. Set around the village bandstand and green space, it will create a welcoming, informal environment where people can drop in, bring friends and family, and enjoy live performance locally.
I will produce and manage the event, supported by professional sound, a simple stage setup, and local volunteers to ensure a smooth, high-quality experience.
The project will bring people together through shared cultural activity, support independent artists with paid opportunities, and provide an accessible, free event for residents of all ages.
This first edition is designed to be focused and achievable, with the aim of developing into an annual community event.
What we'll deliver
- A free outdoor music and storytelling afternoon in Quorn with five live acoustic artists and professional sound
- Bringing the community together through a shared live music experience in a welcoming outdoor space
- Supporting independent artists with paid performance opportunities in a local setting
- Encouraging use of green space for cultural activity and community gathering
- Increasing footfall for local businesses during a busy bank holiday weekend
- Providing an accessible, inclusive event for residents of all ages
Why it's a great idea
Countryside Crossroads will bring social, cultural, and economic benefits to Quorn by creating a free, accessible event that brings people together through live music and storytelling.
The project supports community connection by providing a shared space where residents of all ages can gather, reducing social isolation and strengthening local identity. Its informal, drop-in nature makes it inclusive and welcoming to those who may not attend traditional cultural events.
It also supports wellbeing, offering time outdoors with live performance in a relaxed setting. The event will provide paid opportunities for independent artists, helping sustain local creative talent.
By attracting 200–300 attendees, it is likely to increase footfall for local businesses and demonstrate the value of using green spaces for cultural activity.
The project lays the foundations for a future annual event, contributing to Quorn’s long-term cultural life.
