We want to hire a marquee (capacity 250) to be erected on the Athletic Ground that will allow us to increase the events taking place and others to go ahead in the eventuality of poor weather.
Our aim is to organise a series of events across the four days of the Queen’s Platinum jubilee that will allow all in our community to come together and as a result to strengthen and improve the social, emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing of those taking part. We want to give all cohorts in our village community an opportunity to engage in creative and/or physical activities but we also want to create occasions with an environment that enables all to engage in social interaction and to benefit from the well-being that that creates. The marquee allows us a fall back for some events if the weather is not favourable. The vintage tea party, tribute night, and village picnic would all be best located in the marquee-Rain or shine. We are also inviting several local school and amateur musical groups and an amateur dramatic group to be involved and they would be able to perform in the marquee. The marquee would be the best venue for the Simply Gym session on the Activities day.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The marquee would allow many of our planned activities to take place even should the weather be unfavourable. The open air picnic and vintage tea party are best located inside the marquee which would provide shelter from the rain or the heat of the sun for those elderly residents hoping to enjoy the opportunity that the social interaction of such events afford them. If the weather allows they can mingle and interact outside if they prefer. A street market can be a miserable and unappealing event in the wet but the availability of a marquee allows a last minute change of venue if required. Tribute acts provide great entertainment to all who enjoy popular music, but if the acts perform inside an enclosed marquee there would be a reduction in noise pollution for nearby residents. Local choirs, musical and dramatic groups would have a venue available to perform to family, friends and others. We hope that if the event proves to be a success we will be able to do similar on an annual basis.

Many thanks to all of our backers, we've reached our target and can purchase the marquee. If the weather is kind it promises to be a weekend to remember for the village. The site is still open for the next 48 hours and additional donations will be used to increase the things we can provide at the Vintage tea party, the children's discos and at the 6-a-side cricket tournament. Donations on this site can be 'gift aided' allowing us to claim the tax back. At the moment we are going to receive an additional £465 through that means. THANK YOU
