The idea
Preston Pulse is a social media video platform that aims to bring people in Preston closer to arts & culture, shine a spotlight on the city’s creative scene, and tell the stories of those that live and create here.
Through TikTok and Instagram, we've put 900,000+ pairs of eyes on independent festivals, photography and illustration exhibitions, spoken word events, heritage open days, street art, meet-ups and collectives, community cookalongs, and much more.
We provide high quality video promotion for artists, event organisers, and grassroots venues that don't have the time, expertise, or budget to do it themselves. We give Prestonians a sleek, modern, centralised way to discover their city.
Plus, we create videos about Preston’s history and its heritage, the people who made Preston what it is today, and the regeneration projects that are shaping its future.
In a nutshell, we’re shouting about everything positive in Preston, and getting young people more engaged with their city.
What we'll deliver
- Increased arts & culture coverage
- More videos about Preston's history & heritage
- Expanded video scope, variety and quality due to new equipment
Why it's a great idea
Culture in Preston is failing to find an audience. The reasons are multifaceted, but the recurring sentiment amongst residents is that events are poorly publicised.
Preston Pulse represents an excellent opportunity to provide a modern, centralised, one-stop-shop social media platform where events are promoted directly to users on TikTok and Instagram, through professionally-produced video content, without people having to actively seek it out.
With your support, we can devote more time to building an engaged and enthusiastic online audience for Preston's creative scene, sharing Preston’s history and heritage to foster a greater sense of civic pride and belonging, and greatly expanding the scope, quality and variety of our coverage with new audiovisual equipment.
Wireless microphones will allow us to produce more organic, documentary-style content, while professional content creation software will help us amplify the events and voices that are driving culture in Preston.
