More about our impact
The local economy
We regularly keep in touch with venues for whom we've produced content. For example. Kieran at Saucier Pasta tells us business has been through the roof since our video, which also helped him gain over 300 new followers. Likewise, our video on Preston Sup & Mooch was by far the most viewed video about the event anywhere on the internet, and it resulted in more than 300 people attending a 15-pub crawl, putting money into local businesses. Generally, our What's On guide and content covering new openings helps people stay connected and informed about what's going on in their city, encouraging them into the city centre to spend.
Arts, culture & heritage
We collaborated with Visit England to put Preston's Ribble Steam heritage railway centre on the map, showcasing our city to an audience of more than a million followers. We told the story of local mural artist Shawn Sharpe by working together on a short film about his life and journey with art. Our monthly What’s On guides and Spring/Summer event guide have been viewed over 120,000 times, giving people a detailed and comprehensive overview of what’s going on in the city, each and every month. We also produced a Things To Do In Preston guide which shows people where to find regular live music, stand up comedy, independent art exhibitions and more. Through our historical content, we told the stories of Preston's past, its traditions, its heritage and its notable figures, with videos about Joseph Livesey and the teetotalism movement, Edith Rigby and the suffragettes, and the 1842 Lune Street Riot. We also produced a video about the Prestonian custom of Easter Egg Rolling which was viewed over 600,000 times around the world. We shone a spotlight on an important community group, Preserving Preston’s Heritage C.I.C., and their mission to help put protections in place for at-risk heritage buildings in Preston, including Edith Rigby House, Arkwright House, and the Tithebarn Pub.
