Beat 103 is Preston's only community radio station. Based in Preston Guild Hall and established in 2015, it holds the only community radio licence in the area and reaches the entire Preston area.
It is a genuine community radio station. The advertising helps meet the costs of running the station but everyone who works there is a volunteer. The station hosts children from Ingol Community Primary who have their own radio show at weekends, learning new skills and presenting themselves more confidently while having fun!
The station hosts work experience youngsters from local colleges and supports grassroots music and football through community networking and promotion on the radio with dedicated shows for their benefit.
Local DJ's provide mixes for broadcast and the station provides full, free training and access to becoming a presenter or working behind the scenes, opening up careers in the media and building confidence.
