Poulton St Chads court lighting system

The club hope to install a lighting system that will enable tennis to be played throughout the year in the evening. This will extend court time for players unable to use the courts during the day.

The idea

Our tennis courts are currently restricted to daytime hours, the installation of a low level lighting system will enable the courts to be playable during the evenings by members, guests and our resident professional who provides coaching to members and residents.
The proposed lighting system is unique as it does not require floodlight posts instead two 'strings' of LED lights are attached to the existing fencing providing lighting on 2 all-weather outdoor courts.
This system has been widely installed in the UK and across Europe, the lighting is low-level and will extend court time by 4-5 hours a day during winter months.
We have sourced a local supplier who have provided a lighting report which fed into our planning application with Wyre council.

What we'll deliver

  • Installation of an innovative lighting system consisting of 2 arrays of LED lights controlled centrally by the club

Why it's a great idea

We have recently upgraded 2 of our 3 outdoor courts with an all-weather covering, the addition of a lighting system will enable members & coaching staff to enjoy playing beyond the current restricted daylight hours.
This will generate more members and create enormous benefit to our thriving club enhancing a local community facility.

Steps to get it done

  • Await planning permission
  • Secure supplier
  • Confirm lighting installation
