The idea
Support the Rural Art Hub to take their POSSIBILITY MACHINE project to the next stage and bring back this quirky trolley for "pop-up" creative activities to the high street.
Over last summer we took Possibility Machine V.1 on to the streets of Oswestry in North Shropshire. It was a hugely successful project with hundreds of participants of all ages. The trolley functioned as a portable Graffiti/Doodle wall accumulating markings from a diverse group of people to become an entangled portrait of the town and performance-sculpture. We also delivered a range of other activities including a photography walk, a sound walk and a clay workshop. All out on the street. All free. And for all ages.
More than this, in fact, part of the new project involves working with Manchester School of Architecture students to design and build a new innovative trolley that takes our out in the open creativity to a whole new level.
What we'll deliver
- 60 hours of creative activities across 6 weeks of the summer holidays
- 20 hours of design and build time, to ensure the trolley can deliver the creative activities safely and effectively
- 20 hours of project management and marketing time to get the word out
Why it's a great idea
Our interdisciplinary projects bring people of all ages together to experience creativity, heritage and sustainability and support transformation and inspiration at the heart of communities. Central to what we do is our belief in the benefits of open-ended, playful creativity that goes far beyond the idea of art to think of creativity as part of everyone’s story and having a hugely positive impact on health and wellbeing.
We don't want to create activities for the same usual participants and want to reach wider audiences and all ages. That is why we want to get back out there into the streets of Oswestry and find new ways to bring creativity to everyone. Even those people who don't think they are creative or would not normally go to a creative workshop.
