We're going to launch Swansea's first Positive News newspaper. There's lots of fabulous things happening in our city communities and we want to celebrate and tell the city about them.
Are you fed up of reading bad news? There's plenty of it around. We know that there are also some really fantastic and positive things happening in the many different Swansea communities, and those things don't get talked about so much. We area going to launch Swansea's first Positive News Newspaper. A real, tangible (recycled) printed paper with lots of stories about some of the amazing people who live in Swansea and some of the wonderful things going on. We're not trying to sugarcoat life or pretend that difficult and bad things don't happen, but bad news is regularly reported, while the many good things going on are often ignored. We're going to rebalance the reporting of our city and celebrate the good in Swansea! We'll be finding local reporters and writers, and will be printing the paper locally starting with a quarterly edition and developing our distribution over time.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
If all we read about is bad or depressing news, then we get used to a negative view of life and of our city. Reading a Positive News Newspaper will rebalance that view and give us all a healthier take on life. It will help with improving mental health as we celebrate some of the great things going on which local people can get involved with, while the upbeat reporting will instill a feeling of wellbeing. It will give a voice and provide a platform for people and activities which are currently little known.
