Our aim is to enhance the sensory provision in the STF to impact the sensory input for learners with ASD so they can attend to sessions regulated and achieve their fullest potential.
Due to the growing needs in our specialist teaching facility for children who have ASD, it has been identified by an external occupational therapist, the need for appropriate sensory integration throughout the school day for our learners. This includes access to resources that are outside of our funding budget such as spinners and sensory skateboard, crash mats, medicine balls, scooter boards, exercise balls and stands and peanut balls.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Access to these resources is crucial for our learners to ensure they have the sensory input their body is seeking so that are able to attend to learning activities. This will also significantly impact on the level of dysregulation some of the children experience and support in calming them. Ensuring that the children are regulated and are in an appropriate sensory state will help them to make progress when they are ready to learn.
