Brilliant news, thanks everyone!

We wish to develop a pop-up community cafe for our elderly community members and their carers/friends. This will be a monthly social group combating loneliness/isolation and providing peer support.
A monthly social group aimed at combating loneliness and isolation, building friendships and providing peer support. Our sessions will be very informal ‘a cuppa and a chat’ in our safe, positive, welcoming space. Board games and jigsaws will be available and also our little library. We plan to bring in external services (local groups/CIC’s/guest speakers) to provide a variety of activities such as gentle movement, help with stress and reducing feelings of anxiety, relaxation and meditation, self care. Also some creative crafting sessions such as card making and mdf painting. Service users are welcome to assist with taking care of our plants in our outdoor area if they have an interest in gardening. We will act upon feedback from service users with the aim to provide them with activities that meet their interests and needs. We aim for our sessions to be inclusive of all attendees no matter their ability level.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Our pop-up community cafe will benefit our service users by boosting feelings of wellbeing, improving mental health, forming new friendships, building confidence in socialising again following the impact of covid and participating in activities together, giving a sense of belonging and involvement within the community. During the sessions our community cupboard (foodbank) will be open, so service users can access food and hygiene items for a small donation of whatever they can afford. We want to support our community in these difficult financial times and believe nobody should have to choose between heating and eating.
