A community campaign to educate local residents about plastic pollution and empowering locals to clean up community spaces, working with schools, local businesses, community groups and the council.
I'm a local resident and mother of two and I challenged myself to reduce the throwaway plastic in my family shopping last year. I quickly realised it was both more expensive and less convenient than I had imagined. I started noticing all the litter around in Peckham and began to pick it up as I visited local parks and community spaces with my kids. It's a great way to meet people in the community and I am often joined by others. I believe that access to healthy plastic free food shouldn't be a luxury, and I want to use this project to make affordable plastic free options available to local people in local shops, as well as educating local businesses about what they can do to help.
