We Are Beams is a charity supporting disabled children and families in Hextable, Kent. The garden is a part of our overnight unit for disabled children aged 8-19 years old and is used by the 450 families who access our services and used for family events. The garden is our unique selling point and is in desperate need of repair. Take a look at our vision by visiting - https://bit.ly/3tpLPaV
Together, we can create a fun and enjoyable space for the children.
What we'll deliver:
- Climbing Frame - an interactive climbing frame accessible for all to enjoy
Why it's a great idea:
A new climbing frame will be a fantastic resource for the children to enjoy when staying at our respite unit and attending social events.
Outdoor play is a vital part of a child’s development and is key to their physical, mental and social well-being. Socially, outdoor play allows children to explore, learn the rules of everyday life and discover the different textures and elements in the world.
Despite these benefits, there is evidence to suggest less of children’s time is devoted to outdoor play, in favour of structured or educational activities organised by adults. Our garden is the child's domain to explore.
Steps to get it done:
- Our climbing frame is part of a bigger project to completely transform our garden.
- Divide the garden into zones and get each zone completed within a timeframe.
