Funder Films CIC was set up in March 2014 by former BBC radio producer Jasper Bouverie. The intention was to produce film in and around the community where he lives – Wye in Kent – aimed at raising social and environmental awareness.
Since then the company has run many projects and has also worked with a variety of different companies and academic organisations.
Over the past few years we have produced a number of films based on the Ashford area: We’ve produced film about the River Stour (in partnership with the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership), about the areas buildings (Ashford in 100 buildings), about the area’s treasures (Ashford’s Hidden Treasures), about the pandemic (Mayday Mayday: Ashford in 2020 and beyond), a guide to Ashford made with the help of some young people (Dear Ashford Alabama), and some films made with young people about the Jubilee (Ashford Platinum Jubilee: a thank you to the Queen in film). This last can be seen here: https://www.ashford.gov.uk/Jubilee-on-film.
Most recently, we’ve been working with people living with dementia, using photographs and interviews to produce a series of films for the PixtoFlix YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@PixtoFlix.
And we’ve also been working with refugees on a similar project called A Place I Love: https://www.youtube.com/@PlaceILove
We’re looking forward to developing both of these themes over the coming months.
