Help make Tower Hamlets a great place to live, work and play

The Pinwheel Pavilion is designed to engage the community and explore the potential energy that a single action triggers.
The Pinwheel Pavilion is the winning entry of the ArchTriumph’s Triumph Pavilion 2016: “Energy Pavilion” Competition. We took the opportunity to interpret energy as a concept of the contribution of a single individual affecting a community and contributing to the force that drives a global city such as London. Being in one of the most culturally infused cities, this project is designed to engage the community and explore the potential energy that a single action triggers. Extrapolating this concept to the wider community, it supports the belief that people, regardless of race, gender, beliefs, identity, or age, are the most prominent force that propels London’s prosperity. The individual is the single component that triggers the grander action.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The proposal has been granted support by the local governments culture department and the Museum to be exhibited for a month in the Museum Gardens next the V&A Museum of Childhood in London Bethnal Green from early June. The exhibition also coincides with the month long London Festival of Architecture. The location inspired us to create a concept base on the classic children's’ toy, the pinwheel. The pavilion is essentially made up of a catalogue of mills upheld by a forest of pillars. Each wheel is systematically aligned; a push of a single wheel triggers the adjacent, and so on, spinning each subsequent wheel. The structure is accessible and open for use by the public for free during Museum Gardens opening hours.
Steps to get it done:
At the moment we are reaching out to other forward-thinking organisations that share our values to contribute to the realisation of this unique project, what is, at its heart, a big architectural toy! However, it is one with a valuables statement and message on community. We thought that the Spacehive community is not only a great start to fund part of our project but also to initiate community involvement to further emphasise the influence of a singular energy on the collective force! Anyone who participates in this crowd funding campaign helps us move one step closer to a chain reaction of a one thousand nine hundred spinning pin wheels, or “individuals,” driving London forward and cities like it.
