More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

The landscaping work has enabled us to transform an area of the garden ruined by building work into a beautiful and vibrant habitat for plants, animals and invertebrates. Waste rubble was turned into mulch for plants chosen to thrive in London's relatively dry climate - these plants in turn provide shelter and sustenance for a number of bird and insect species that live in the garden. Improved paths and zoning of beds afforded by the changes made as part of this work means that human interference in these habitat areas is kept to a minimum, enabling wildlife to thrive.

The local economy

The local economy

This area of Covent Garden, while perceived as affluent, is actually prone to high levels of social deprivation and antisocial behaviour. By regenerating the garden we aim not only to create a valuable amenity for local residents and workers , but also to become a destination for garden enthusiasts from further afield, drawing them into the local area for the benefit of local business and the economy. We also hope that our improved presence and capacity generates interest within the local borough council and beyond, drawing attention to the hard work and dedication of our neighbours in their efforts to tackle the issues facing them and their neighbourhood.
